Round 3 Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP) Deadline Reminder
There are only 2 days remaining until the application submission deadline for the Round 3 Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP) Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) is due. All applications must be submitted by Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 11:59:59 PM EDT.
Applications shall be submitted to Grants.gov unless a waiver has been issued allowing you to submit your application in paper form. Instructions for submitting your paper application will be contained in the waiver of electronic submission. As a reminder, “Received by Grants.gov” means the applicant received a confirmation of receipt and an application tracking number from Grants.gov. Then Grants.gov assigns an application tracking number and date-and time-stamps each application upon successful receipt by the Grants.gov system. A submission attempt not resulting in confirmation of receipt and an application tracking number is not considered received by Grants.gov. For more information, please see Section IV.D. of the Round 3 YHDP NOFA.
HUD strongly recommends applications be submitted as soon as possible and during regular business hours to allow enough time to correct errors or overcome other problems.
If you have questions pertaining to Round 3 YHDP NOFA, please submit your questions to the Ask A Question (AAQ) portal on the HUD Exchange website and select “CoC” from the “My question is related to” drop down list on Step 2 of the question submission process.
The AAQ portal accepts question submissions 24/7. However, responses are usually provided between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, except for weekends and federal holidays. Additionally, starting 2 days prior to the application deadline, the AAQ will respond only to emergency technical support questions. To ensure you receive a response to your question, please submit your question via the AAQ no later than 12:00 PM EDT on May 13, 2019. The Homeless Employment Program (HEP) is an employment program for folks who are experiencing homelessness. Some of the assistance includes job search, resume help, interview skills, money management, housing search and some supported services.

CCYJ has brought together schools, law enforcement, policymakers, social service providers, and other organizations to collect uniform data and develop an innovative, coordinated approach to address gang/group-involvement countywide.
Connecting gang/group-involved youth and young adults to needed support. Through a coordinated team of providers, LINC is intervening with these young people and reengaging them in secondary education, connecting them to counselling and treatment services,
employment opportunities, and other services they need to succeed. The multidisciplinary team model helps youth and young adults set and reach their educational, employment, and pro-social goals. CCYJ currently facilitates three multidisciplinary teams serving seven King County school districts. In 2017, we expanded into Seattle ensuring LINC is available as a resource throughout King County.

Assistant Chief Perry Tarrant commands the Special Operations Bureau.
Perry Tarrant has more 36 years of law enforcement experience. He began his career with the Tucson Police Department working Patrol, Canine, SWAT, and Bomb Squad. He also supervised or commanded these areas as well as Motorcycles, Internal Affairs Investigations, Aviation (with a Commercial Pilot license), Criminal Investigations, Emergency Management, and Homeland Security – Counterterrorism. Perry coordinated the City of Yakima PD’s Gang Initiative and community-based resources before coming to Seattle.
Perry Tarrant joined the Seattle Police as an Assistant Chief during the Department’s DOJ Settlement Agreement. He was part of a White House law enforcement advisory committee created by President Obama and chaired by Vice President Biden. He presented before Congress on civil rights, hate crimes, community policing, use of force, and 21st Century Policing. Additionally, he serves on the Executive Board of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) and was elected its President for 2016 and 2017. He is a member of the Breakfast Group and Red Tail Hawks, which are local community organizations focused on youth mentoring. He is also serves as a board member of Choose 180, a program that works to keep youth out of the criminal justice system.
Assistant Chief Tarrant received his Master’s Degree in Public Administration with a Leadership Emphasis from Northern Arizona University, and his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (Minor in Counterterrorism & Human Migration) from The University of Arizona. He holds additional academic certificates in Criminal Justice Graduate Studies from the University of Virginia and a Certificate of Study in Human Trafficking from The Ohio State University. He has completed the FBI National Academy, the Senior Management Institute for Police, and NOBLE’s CEO mentoring program. He is a FEMA Incident Commander and provided leadership for National Special Security Events such as national political party conventions, G-20 summit, and Unified Command for Super Bowl XLVIII.

Amazon.com is looking to hire some 50,000 good women and men to pick, stow and pack items in its U.S. warehouses.
About 1,200 of those mostly permanent jobs are in Washington state. So on Wednesday — a day that the e-commerce giant declared “Amazon Jobs Day” — job applicants lined up by the hundreds at the company’s gargantuan, robot-filled Kent warehouse with the hopes of landing a position in one of the Amazon facilities in the Puget Sound area.
The coffeeshop Starbucks is opening Friday in White Center looks in many ways like any other Starbucks store.
But to one side of the store is an area, complete with refrigerator, sink, grinder and brewer, that can be partitioned from the rest and sets this store apart.
It’s intended to be a community space and training area, where young people aged 16 to 24 who are not working or in school can receive training on skills such as résumé writing and customer service, preparing them for jobs at Starbucks and elsewhere.
